I love my apartment…no it’s not an exaggeration , I love it for it’s size for one thing. it’s really nice and spacious and caters to all my needs so I won’t go on a rant saying that I always hated it because that was never the case but yes since its spacious, decorating it became somewhat difficult initially because Read More

Heyyyyy everyone!!! How have you all been? I just realized that I haven’t done a weekend post for a very long time now…partly because I was still recovering from the sudden demise of my Dad..May his soul rest in eternal peace. That has left me feeling empty and quiet shaken up to Read More

Guests means having to prepare food but of course we want to make anything and everything that is easy to make. Bringing you this simple recipe today which tastes really good and won’t take hours to prepare.
Could be used as an appetizer and can be served as a side with your entrée.
You will need:
Eggs 6 (you can take more depending on the number of people but let’s stick to 6 for now)
First place eggs in a pan of water and bring it to boil and immediately remove the pan from the flame and leave it aside as it is for about 12 minutes.
Drain the eggs and cool them completely by placing them in iced water. While the eggs are cooling finely chop half a celery stalk and quarter of an onion.
Once the eggs are cool, peel them. Cut each in half. Remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl and mash them. Add the chopped onion, celery and quarter cup of mayonnaise. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper and add a few drops of hot sauce. Mix it all together and put it all in a small plastic bag nicely. Cut off a small corner and pipe the filling into the egg whites. Sprinkle the eggs with paprika for garnish. Cover them with plastic wrap and place them in the refrigerator till you are ready to serve them.
Once your guests have arrived, garnish with a bit of parsley and you are good to go.
Remember you can be as creative as you want. Add a bit of salami on top or even shredded chicken would be great. Add shredded beef, sausages, cheese, or anything that is available. These taste good!

Hola! how are you today? I’m super excited as I’m about to share something which I adore <3. Let me tell you how it all started. When we moved to UAE, we moved into a furnished apartment (hotel apartment) which was cute and cozy but after a while we felt like we needed a place we can call our own with our own stuff and our own story to tell. So we started looking for an apartment, finally choosing one that suited us best, we finalized it and then came the time to buy stuff to furnish it. We went shop to shop of course and found some stuff online as well. We were very happy with our purchases because we got some really neat stuff in great prices. (i’m so proud of myself) hehe.
Sooooo when the time came to buy a fridge, I felt that since we were a family of 5, a small fridge was naturally out of question so after looking at different brands and models in different shops, I gave up. Good ones were crazy expensive and the rest were too small. Thanks to my luck I came across this lady who was selling her stuff online and sent me photos of her fridge and I fell in love with it right away because it catered to all my needs and it was pretty..the best part it was really neat & tidy and well kept.
So my husband and I booked a pick up and went over to her house to get the fridge. The moment I entered her house, I fell in love with it…like seriously in love with it. It was so beautiful and tastefully decorated. Love at first sight! (wish i could’ve taken photos) That was the moment I knew that I would be buying more than just a fridge and so I did. Her name was Jeanette and she is such a warm, classy, genuine soul. So glad we met!
So this is the fridge I got from Jeanette. Pretty sleek isn’t it!
And this is what it looked like once we brought this home and placed it there. Ali and I bought this awesome decal while we were still in Pakistan from one of these online stores and somehow we felt that it would look great on this fridge.
Since that day my fridge and I became the best of friends. We took care of each other like family and then it was time for me to say bye for a short while and leave UAE for a few days to attend this wedding back home. But once I returned , to my horror, the building people cut off the electricity because they felt like we had vacated the apartment lol. It’s funny now but it wasn’t funny then as my fridge got affected by their decision and had to be replaced. It wasn’t easy I tell you for my fridge and I were too much in love.
Alas! Time came to befriend a new one and we chose this guy after much struggle and heartbreak and tried to place the same decal on this one but somehow it looked disproportionate so I started looking online for ways to fix this problem and after searching hard I found some great ideas on pinterest and decided to bring them to good use right away. And then this is what happened.
The whole idea involved duct tape but I found cloth tape at Carrefour which is exactly like duct tape and works the same way too. Duct tape is also available at Ace hardware at festival city Dubai and you can also get it those Gift centers all across UAE. Duct tape is available in a lot of different colors so you can get as creative and imaginative as you want. Anyhow moving on let me show you what I did next. I’ve put individual images so that you can have a better look and get an idea.
How does this work? It’s pretty simple actually. Choose the duct tape color you want, I chose black and white. I saw White and gold combo too on pinterest and it looked pretty kickass too. There was also orange , blue and white, there were geometrical designs, there were horizontal lines, people had used contact sheet on the fridge too which did look good. I chose to do diagonal because it somehow clicked more with my mood and the black and white went with the black counter tops in my kitchen.
What you need:
Tape (your desired color)
Great music – optional
And a good cup of tea/coffee
Just start anywhere you want, I started right in the middle as it made more sense to me. Just be careful while sticking the tape as you want them nice and straight but incase you start getting bubbles or the lines don’t seem straight then simply pull it back up and place it again. That’s the beauty of it.
The result : A fridge that looks brand new and feels new!! 🙂 Taa daa!
It has added so much character to my kitchen. I also added a little black and white runner by the window which activates the whole monochromatic feel in my life! 😀
So let me know what you think 🙂 If you try it, do share photos with me <3
My old fridge was a Maytag
New one LG Digital
Duct Tape: Ace hardware, Carrefour, gift market
Scissors or cutter any kind
Imagination: Your own 🙂
P.S. I tried looking online for that page where we bought the decal but it seems they’ve discontinued. We bought ours 4 years ago and took it out 2 years ago when we bought the maytag fridge and placed on it. Wish I could order another one as I totally loved it! You can search for other pages and maybe get something interesting for your fridge if you want. 🙂

If you were born in the 80s then you have experienced 90s like no one else and boy! what days and what trends and not to mention the music the great 90s brought with it. The decade that brought us slap bracelets, Saved by the Bell, mood rings, wide legs, grunge, good hip hop, beepers, the walkman, etc. is my absolute favorite of all decades. Of course, I’m biased because it’s the era I grew up in but the 90s have been getting lots of love lately with comebacks in the fashion scene. It was an era that is forever going to live in our hearts and minds <3
Wings and Strokes is bringing you something from the 90s that is worth remembering! So hold your breath and get ready to live those moments again.
Speaking of 90s how can we forget the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and his super cool attire.
Remember the overalls with one strap down? 😀
Roller Blades were such a thing back in those days. One of my cousins got herself these super cool skates and we were like wowww!! lol. Tried them on several times but never quiet got the hang of the whole balance thing so I mostly slipped & tripped (maybe always but let’s assume that I ‘mostly’ couldn’t retain my balance)
The 90s also brought with it the absurd trend of bleached hair. I was looking for a photograph of me with bleached hair using the hair bleaches which were commonly found in stores e.g. Modgirl, Jolen, Olivia etc. Yesss! Guilty as charged. Please don’t pretend like you’ve never tried them on your hair as I could name each of you who did. Since I can’t find my own photo so let’s stick to a better version of the bleached hair by looking at these boys 😀 Justin Timberlake hehe
Hoop Earrings were super cool then and super cool now. I still luvvvvvv them. There were big ones for girls and the guys happily wore small ones. Hoops for girls any day!!
Remember this flat top hair do for men. Ahhh yes!! Reminds you of the 90s doesn’t it?!
Then there was also this mid-parting trend with a wegde cut.
Not so sure about the origin of this but this was seen everywhere. No Fear became the thing in the 90s. Sweatshirts, Caps, Bikes, walls etc had No Fear plastered all over them. I remember my sister painting a sweatshirt using the embossed fabric paint and man it looked awesome!
There was nothing fresher than a pair of these awesome Timberland boots and you were really a pro if you cleaned them with your pencil eraser. Hell yeah!
Speaking of shoes, remember those shoes with lights in the heels? They were a must-have!
Hush Puppies, Reebok, Nike were popular names in the world of footwear in the 90s alongwith many others.
Carrying a fancy Disney lunchbox to school used to be everyone’s dream. You just had to have one with one of those popular cartoon character boxes that came in with a water bottle.
It was my 5th birthday when my Dad got me my first ever Walkman and I can’t tell you how excited and happy I was to have gotten one. I remember it was black and grey and I was over the moon. Having a Walkman (one that played cassettes) or Discman (one that played CDs meant you were someone carrying a goldbrick in your hands back in those days until everyone had it lol. But what days!!! What days!!! Going to the Music store to buy your favourite cassettes with all your favourite tracks. Side A and Side B. Ahhhhhh….Someone bring back those days!!!!!!
Watching movies on the weekends with parents permission of course on the VCR with those VHS tapes. Rewind, forward, and the whole shebang. Ahhhh not to mention cleaning the head for better quality.
How many of you have worn unbuttoned shirts over graphic Tees?
We all have been seeing ripped jeans around and some look really stunning while some look absolutely ridiculous. Where do you think ripped jeans came in from? It’s a 90s thing of course!
I’m going to stop here but the 90s trends don’t stop here for sure. Will bring you back more to feast your eyes upon and relive those days, next week. Till then feel free to share your memories with us and share the post with your friends & family.
Life is too short. Live it!

Winters brings with it natural snowfall upon your shoulders called dandruff. Haha yesss! let’s think of it this way for now 😉 but it can be very annoying and damaging for your hair also. So what are you doing to get rid of it? Perhaps some of you are trying different methods while others are just too lazy and just waiting for summers. Well! Worry not I have some easy home remedies for you from ingredients right out of your pantry.
If you don’t want anymore of that flaky, itchy scalp then read on and see if you can find something that suits you best.
Coconut Oil & Lemon Massage
Coconut oil is a tried and tested dandruff treatment. It nourishes your hair, while lemon juice helps to treat dandruff at home without using harmful chemicals.
Step 1: Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil and mix it with equal amounts of lemon juice.
Step 2: Massage your scalp gently with the mixture.
Step 3: Leave it on for 20 minutes before rinsing if off with shampoo.
Treating dandruff at home with yogurt is a little messy but very effective.
Step 1: Apply some yogurt to your hair and scalp.
Step 2: Let it sit tight for about an hour.
Step 3: Rinse it off with a shampoo that’s mild.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Some people swear by this wonder product as the acidity of apple cider vinegar changes the pH of your scalp, making it harder for yeast to grow.
Step 1: Mix a quarter cup apple cider vinegar with a quarter cup water in a spray bottle and spritz on your scalp.
Step 2: Wrap your head in a towel and let sit for 15 minutes to an hour. (depending upon your patience) 😛
Step 3: Wash your hair as usual.
Do this twice a week.
Try these and let me know if you feel the difference. These are pretty simple and you won’t have a hard time finding these in your kitchen if you happen to be the lazy sort.
Take care of your tresses while you still have them 🙂 Don’t forget to do a slo-mo once your dandruff is gone and its time for you to celebrate your beautiful hair 😉 Haha!
Have fun girls!!! and guys, of course! If you have dandruff problems too!
