Hey everyone! Hope you all are having a fantastic October. I personally love this month and everything about it. It brings with it Autumn that I have always been madly in love with and also it brings tons of reasons to celebrate little joys of life. Starting with my daughters birthday, then 3 more birthdays in the family, our anniversary and of course Halloween….Boo! October is just beautiful!!!
Did I mention that October is also my birthday month and even though I never really celebrate the day itself but I like to think that once a year it can be about me and what I want to do for that one day. So BIG thanks to all those who wished me and made me feel all special in their own way. You guys are awesome!!!
I wonder how your weekend has been but I have been taking care of my little ones who are down with fever and flu. Its the changing weather in UAE I guess that’s making everyone sick these days. If your family has been hit by the seasonal illness just know that colds and flus are viral infections, so antibiotics won’t help when it comes to clearing up an infection. So you have to figure that part out first.
Remember that a fever is the body’s way of fighting off an infection. Keep your child hydrated to help reduce cold and flu symptoms and make them feel better. Fevers can result in dehydration. Your child may not feel as thirsty as they normally would, and they may be uncomfortable when drinking, so it’s important to encourage them to drink plenty of fluids. Mine refused to eat but kept taking fluids thankfully.
If your child is over 1 year old, try giving honey for a cough instead of medication. You may also want to try chicken soup..clear chicken soup that is, works wonders. Whether its you or your child, if your body is telling you to lie down, then don’t think twice. Getting lots of rest is the key to getting better when you have fever or flu. Cardamom and honey mixed together or ginger and honey or black pepper and honey..These three combos are great for terrible cough and congestion so you might wanna try these before you lose all hope and rush to the hospital. But then again its a matter of choice, I try to treat the problem at home before I even think of going to the hospitals.
Anyway coming back to the weekend, please make the weekend about your loved ones. When you go out, put the phone away. There is nothing worse than sitting down for a meal and having no conversation at all. Everything in the world can wait for those 30 minutes in a day where you make your better halves or kids feel like you are there. These little things show how much a person means to you. So be careful. Make a little bit of effort to forget your phone and social media for a while and be fully present in that moment before it passes you by.
