Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your interest in my IG story about homemade face masks that actually work. I have received some very nice messages over the last two days from you lovely people showing your interest and eagerness in this post. So without further adieu let me share the tried and tested face masks based on ingredients right out of your pantry. These are very simple, these work for me so I’m hoping they’d work for you too. For starters I have a combination skin, also let me tell you that these masks are known to work on all skin types. You can give it a go and see if it’s right for you.
Lemon & Honey Mask
Lemon is known as a bleaching agent. It helps with areas that get affected by the harmful rays of the sun giving you an uninvited tan. It also works wonders on the dark areas on your face which could be the upper part of your lip or maybe something on the cheeks. (Not for dark circles- don’t try it there because I haven’t :P)
Add a tablespoon of honey into lemon, mix well of course and massage gently over your face targeting the dark areas (if any). This one can be left on overnight as well. (I’m not brave enough to do it as it contains honey and could ruin my pillow-cases or invite ants straight upto my face to have a little party of their own 😀 ).
Leave it on for a while. Rinse off. This can be done once a week.
Pigmentation is a real pain for many of us no matter what our skin colour. It could happen due to many reasons, inflammation, aging and sun-exposure being on top. This mask is good for pigmented areas.
They say who needs botox when you have a banana? Lol yesss! You can use a banana as an all-natural, homemade mask that moisturizes your skin and leaves it looking and feeling softer. Mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste, then gently apply it to your face and neck. Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. If you have acne then you can take 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 medium banana. Mix it up into a paste and apply it on your face for 20 to 25 minutes.
Both these masks are very good for your skin. Do try them.
Oatmeal & Tomato Juice
Tomato is enriched with natural goodness and it works really well for skin. People who eat raw tomatoes or use them in their salads more know what I’m saying.
Adding some oatmeal to a tomato juice would give you a skin lightening mask that helps with pigmentation and leaves your skin feeling unbelievably fresh. You can add some honey to it if you want.
Cucumbers feel so good on skin that its unreal. Its cool effect works really (and I mean really) well on pimples. It’s very simple to use. Grate or puree a cucumber and apply it directly to your face. If you have pimples do it regularly and you will see a visible difference.
For exfoliation – add some yogurt to the grated cucumber and apply.
For more younger looking skin you can add honey or aloevera to cucumber puree and apply.
Gram Flour Mask
Gram Flour masks work really well for skin. I posted a few masks earlier as well. There are different ways to use gram flour and make quick masks at home. If you want to take a look at those, click here.
Moving on take 1 teaspoon of gram flour, 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and mix it well with curd (form a paste). Apply this mask for 20 minutes. Rinse off.
