How many male superheroes did it take for them to bring a female superheroine into spotlight? Wonder woman! I remember as a child that women who were ferocious, considered fast, bold, strong (they called them hot headed) were compared to wonder woman back then. It was considered an insult mostly in this part of the world.
I remember comparing a very strong woman related to me to wonder woman once because I felt that she could do it all, and I was told on my face not to insult her. Well! Can’t really say much to the not-knowing ignorant people but to me calling someone a wonder woman was supposed to be a compliment, and that too a very huge one.
Well, moving on let’s talk about the legend that we’ve known since our childhood.
The character itself has been played by many women over the years. The American actress, songwriter, singer and beauty pageant title holder Lynda Carter, who was crowned Miss World America in 1972, played Wonder Woman in the famous television series from 1975 to 1979. The series lasted for three seasons until it was cancelled. Wonder woman became a huge thing back then especially with men who had posters of her in their rooms, closets etc. Warner Bros also released a toy after Wonder Woman, and of course it sold out like hot cakes.
Adrianne Palicki is another face chosen in 2011 for the television series Wonder Woman but it never got aired as it didn’t go well with NBC.
Wonder Woman is a 2009 animated superhero film. It is the fourth in the line of DC animated original movies released by Warner Premiere and Warner Bros. Wonder Woman played by Kerri Russell. On August 11, 2015, Warner Home Video re-released the film on a combo pack, which includes a DVD and Blu-Ray copy, a digital copy, and with the graphic novel it was based on.
Another name that goes with Wonder Woman is Cathy Lee Crosby.
Born in LA California, Crosby was, at one time, a professional tennis player who was ranked as high as #7 in singles in US junior tennis competition and #4 in doubles. In 1974, she starred as the title character in the television film Wonder Woman, a year before Lynda Carter’s popular weekly series came out.
Let’s talk about the woman of the hour, Gal Gadot. Born on 30 April 1985 Gadot is an Israeli actress and model. As an actress, Gadot is known for her role as Gisele Yashar in The Fast and the Furious film series, where she performed all the stunts herself. In 2016, Gadot began playing the role of Wonder Woman, starting with Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and continuing as the lead in Wonder Woman (2017). She is a former Israel Defense Forces trainer and served in the Israeli army for two years.
In past years, she has been ranked as one of the highest earning models in Israel. She is the face of Gucci’s Bamboo perfume. At the age of 18, Gadot won the 2004 Miss Israel competition, and next competed in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant. After army, she studied law.
In 2016, Wonder Woman played by Gadot (along with Lynda Carter) was named an Honorary Ambassador for the Empowerment of Women & Girls by the UN.

Diana is depicted as a masterful athlete, acrobat, fighter and strategist, trained and experienced in many ancient and modern forms of armed and unarmed combat, including exclusive Amazonian martial arts. In some versions, her mother trained her, as Wonder Girl, for a future career as Wonder Woman. From the beginning, she is portrayed as highly skilled in using her Amazon bracelets to stop bullets and in wielding her golden lasso. Batman once called her the “best melee fighter in the world”. The modern version of the character is known to use lethal force when she deems it necessary. In the New 52 continuity, her superior combat skills are the result of her Amazon training, as well as receiving further training from Ares, the God of War, himself, since as early as her childhood. The Golden Age Wonder Woman also had knowledge in psychology, as did her Amazon sisters. Gadot described her character as having “many strengths and powers, but at the end of the day she’s a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence.”
The much awaited Wonder Woman is going to hit the big screen on June 2, 2017. A must watch!!!! We are super excited!
